1 Peter 1:1 – Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ
I like movies! How about you? It’s fun to be in a big hall with lots of people, all excited about what’s about to happen. The lights go dark, you’ve got your favorite drink and a bucket of popcorn, and you’re not in a hurry.
What’s your favorite type of movie?
Me? Comeback stories! When it all works out in the end. When people overcome incredible odds. They persevere—so completely motivated that nothing can stop them.
Now, my family knows that when we go to movies like this, Dad is going to cry. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s the popcorn causing my eyes to tear up.
There was a film about a boxer that came out many years ago named Rocky. It became famous for moments like this—the underdog, the comeback, the failure turned into victory!
Interestingly, there was a man who lived a couple of thousand years ago also named “Rock”—Peter. And he really lived a life like this!
A man growing up in a working-class town. No silver spoon. No diplomas on the wall. A fisherman—probably average at best.
But when called by the Son of God, there was no turning back. Wholehearted. Passionate. The days ahead were filled with miracles—and pitfalls.
What a story!
- Empty nets
- Walking on water
- Becoming the chosen rock
- Denying the Lord
- Being restored
- Preaching the first sermon of the church!
Imagine this…
Imagine sitting down with Peter in the later years of his life and asking:
“Peter, what did you learn? What’s most important? Can we spend some time together? What do you want us to know about life, Christ, salvation, our calling, failures, and victories?”
If you’re as curious as I am, I’ve got some good news!
Peter did share those lessons. He wrote them down so that you and I could know them too!
Since there are so many great stories in his letters, I’m going to turn this into a movie series. You’re going to love this!
So get ready!
Find your seat.
Grab your favorite drink.
Turn off your phone.
Put on your 3D glasses.
The doors have closed. The theater is dark. The world is quiet.
Let’s join Peter and learn lessons that won’t just move our hearts—they’ll change our lives. Not just for a few hours, but for eternity.
Snacks to Go!
Peter’s story is a reminder that no matter where we come from, or how many mistakes we’ve made, God calls us into something greater.
- From the Ordinary to the Extraordinary – Peter was a fisherman, but Jesus gave him the keys to the kingdom.
- Failures Don’t Define You – Peter denied Jesus three times, yet became a cornerstone of the church.
- Jesus Sees Your Potential – Like Peter, we’re invited to step into the story God is writing for us.
Comment if Peter’s story inspires you to take the next step in your faith!
